I am disappointed, but also excited, to announce that, due to now living in Stonebridge in Brent, that I will not be standing for election in Maida Vale ward in Westminster this year.
I have learnt a lot since 2014 serving as a Westminster Councillor and have been proud to represent local interests – especially the young and older residents.
However, all is not lost!
Kilburn Ward – the adjacent ward in Brent – has selected me to stand as one of their candidates at the May elections.
As I was a secondary school pupil at St Augustine’s, I have a certain affinity with the locality, and am enthused to continue in my ‘hands on’ approach to local needs.
I already help Leslie, the organiser at Granville Foodbank Centre, in delivering food parcels, and will no doubt continue to raise funds to address social needs.
I intend to build on my past experiences, including the development of regular surgery facilities and communication for local people.
I'd like to take the opportunity to extend my very good wishes to the Labour candidates in Maida Vale, and I hope they do well in the elections on May 5th.
If issues arise in the future that affect our common border I will be delighted to try and help.
Let’s all hope we are beginning to return to more normal times!
My best wishes go to all those public servants and volunteers who have placed our interests above their own during the pandemic.
